Leader Board - The Final Results

The York City South 2018/9 predictor competition was decided on the very last day of the season. Stockport’s title win and Kidderminster's last day defeat saw Joel Stern (98 points) pip Katherine Naylor by one point to claim the £76 first prize. Matt Long (88 points) was third. Katherine and Matt each receive a £9.50 runners up prize. Many thanks to everyone who entered and well done to the victors. In total, £95 was raised for York City South:

Following February's fixtures, there has generally been an increase in scores across the board. However, Katherine Naylor retains the lead and is in line for the £76 top prize at the end of the season:

Following January's fixtures, the significant movers in the leaderboard were those who tipped City for a lowly finishing position and those who went high on the goals City concede during the season:

  3. Chris Forth (3) - 77 points

Following the festive fixtures, the significant movers in the leaderboard were those who tipped Stockport as champions (up 9 places in 4 games) and those who went high on the total number of goals in City's games. The top 3 are:

  1. Katherine Naylor (up from 3rd place a month ago) - 103 points
  2. Nick Briggs (7) - 88 points
  3. Chris Forth (1) - 84 points

Following City's slump in November, there were some significant movers in the leaderboard. Top 3 after the games on December 8 are:

The Competition

SORRY: Entries closed on August 4 2018. 38 entries mean a first prize of £76 and 2 runners up prizes of £9.50 each.

You are required to predict 6 outcomes of York City's 2018/9 season.

The cost is just £5, half the entry fees will be distributed in prize money. First prize is 40% of the entry fund, with 10% shared between the 2 runners up. All of the rest of the entry fees will be donated by York City South to York City Football Club. There will be no deductions for expenses.

Closing date for entries (and entry fees) is 04/August/2018 (the first day of the NLN season). For entries made after this date, no refund will be given and the entry will not be eligible. Anyone can make as many entries as they wish at £5 per entry.

All you have to do is to predict:

  1. York City's final position in National League North
  2. The number of goals conceded by York City in National League North
  3. The number of goals scored by York City in National League North
  4. National League North champions
  5. How many spectators will watch City's 21 home league game during the 2018/9 NLN season (57,853 saw City’s 21 home games last season).
  6. The number of games won by York City in the FA Cup and FA Trophy

How To Enter

All entries must be accompanied by a £5 entry fee. Multiple entries are allowed

Entries can be made via either:

  1. enter via survey monkey (one survey monkey entry per person and don't forget to send your entry fee)
  2. download the entry form (multiple entries are allowed)

Entry fees can be paid via bank transfer to sort code 40-47-83, account number 94-86-64-95 with your name as reference and email Chris quoting your reference and address OR by sending a £5 cheque (payable to Chris Forth). Remember, all profits to YCS / YCFC.

The Rules - How It Works / The Scoring

For each prediction, 20 points are awarded for a fully correct prediction, making a maximum total score of 120 points

Points are deducted for any incorrect prediction. A minimum score of 0 (zero) points is awarded for each prediction. No negative points are awarded:

  1. York City's final position in National League North. For every position difference between the actual finish and your prediction, one point is lost
  2. The number of goals conceded by York City in National League North. For every one goal difference between the actual number of goals that City concede and your prediction, one point is lost
  3. The number of goals scored by York City in National League North. For every one goal difference between the actual number of goals that City score and your prediction, one point is lost
  4. National League North champions. For every place difference between your prediction being Champions and their actual finishing position, one point is lost
  5. Total home league attendance. For every 500 out, one point is lost
  6. The number of games won by York City in the FA Cup and FA Trophy. For every win difference between your prediction and the actual number of games won, 2 points are lost

A leader board will be produced at the end of every month from September 30th
