- "Rosso, this Italian restaurant serves unbelievable food . I Love the flattened steak ..… the vibe ….. plenty of footballers pop in for quality food after matches". Rio Ferdinand describing his favourite Manchester eaterie in October, a full 6 weeks before it even opened! PS Rio forgot he’s a prat (I must be more careful with my spell checker in future) owner of it.
"Whilst Sir Alex Ferguson admitted Gary Neville’s sending off again Barnsley (Carling Cup 27th October 2009) was justified, Neville didn’t agree, calling it "blatantly wrong".
- "That’s the best question I’ve ever been asked and I don’t understand it". – Mick McCarthy’s response to Stuart Hall after Wolves’ 1-1 draw at Everton(17/10/2009). Something about the quiet atmosphere at Goodison. I didn’t understand it either or Hall’s attempt to re-phrase the question in Yorkshire accent.
What an unhealthy nation we are. Have you noticed the high proportion of deaths where "underlying health problems" are noted. Pregnant women, teenagers etc.
- November 2009, robber holds up bank in Birmingham. Runs off home with over £5,000. One problem. Home is opposite the bank and several bystanders tell the police of his hideout.
Manchester United staff have put the training-ground clocks forward by seven minutes. The idea by the club's sports science experts is a ploy to stop players turning up late for a 10am exercise session at Carrington. Or Rio will arrive at 10 past 10 and say "Doh, I’m 10 minutes late"
- We’ve just had the best run that I can remember since I don’t know when - Anon
"He’s prone, its only a bang on his head, he’ll be fine". Al Ross’ observation on a knock to Richard Brodie at Rushden in December 2009
- "The unprecedented injury crisis which left Manchester United without 15 players". The Daily Telegraph (8th December 2009) reveals the key to their success. Not 12, but 15 players on the pitch.
